How to measure for your size of roller shade:

What You’ll Need

✅ Steel measuring tape
✅ A notepad or phone for notes
✅ Step stool (if the window is high)
✅ A helper (optional but handy!)

Step 1: Decide Your Mounting Style

👉 Most RV roller shades are Outside Mount — mounted on the wall or frame outside the window.

A. Outside Mount

• Measure the total width you want to cover:
  → Start from one end of the window frame to the other.
  → Add 2 inches (1 inch on each side) for better light coverage and privacy.

📏 Example: Frame-to-frame width = 30” → Order width = 32”

• For height, measure from the top of the window frame to the bottom.
  → Add 2 inches total (1 inch above and below) to allow space for brackets.

📏 Example: Frame-to-frame height = 24” → Order height = 26”

B. Inside Mount

• Measure the exact width inside the window opening.
  → Do not add extra space — we will deduct just enough to ensure a smooth fit.

• Measure the exact height from top to bottom inside the opening.

🛠️ Note: Inside mounts require a clear, flat surface and may have slightly more light gaps around the edges.

Step 2: Account for Existing Valances or Draperies

If you already have valances, curtains, or other window coverings, ensure your new shade will fit underneath. Double-check your width measurement with these in mind!  If you have a valance already, we recommend measuring up inside the valance which was made to fit your RV as the max width to put in for your shade.

Step 3: Double-Check Your Numbers

• We’ll make the shade to your exact ordered size, so double-check width and height.

• Take each measurement twice to avoid errors.

• Use a metal measuring tape for the most accurate results.

We will manufacture exactly the size you order. Take precautions with your measurements so entire window area is covered and allowances are made to assure a custom fit. If draperies or valances are already installed be sure your measurement for width allows the shade or blind to fit under the current window treatment.
