Find the right RV entry door window shade
Most towable RV entry doors have the same window: about 12" wide × 21" tall glass. People also describe that window as 15" × 24" (the cutout in the door) or 16" × 25" (the outside of the plastic frame). It's the same window measured in different places. Some newer doors have a tall 12" × 36" window. Motorhome, frameless, older Hehr and other one-off doors use their own sizes.

Lippert has discontinued its Thin Shade conversion kit for doors that aren't Thin Shade Ready. This builder is how you get a shade for those doors now, and for any other entry door window size.
Custom sizes: glass from 8" up to 32" wide and 8" up to 60" tall, in Irvine's black, foil-center EcoCell cellular fabric (100% light blocking). Black is the only color made with the foil-center EcoCell fabric. Custom shades fit rectangular windows, with square or rounded corners. Arched or rounded-top windows aren't supported.

How to measure your entry door window
- Measure from inside the RV with the door closed.
- Glass width and height: measure the clear glass you can see, edge to edge inside the frame. Measure to the nearest 1/8".
- Frame width and height: measure across the outside edges of the plastic window frame.
- Look for a Thin Shade Ready sticker or logo on the frame. If you see one, the in-stock 12" × 21" shade snaps right in.
The Custom Size builder asks for these same measurements. If anything in your order doesn't add up, we contact you before your shade is built.
About the standard sizes
12" × 21": Lippert Thin Shade EcoCell (prepped doors)
The Lippert Thin Shade EcoCell shade (#786037) is a black, 100% light-blocking cellular shade. It slides up and down inside the window frame of Lippert doors made Thin Shade Ready. It installs with a Phillips screwdriver and you don't have to remove the window. It measures 11.9" W × 21.5" T and fits prepped doors only.
12" × 36": tall door window
No off-the-shelf shade is made for the tall 12" × 36" door window, so Irvine Shade builds this one to order. Measure your glass and frame first to confirm you have the 12" × 36" window. If your numbers are different, use Custom Size.
Why cover your entry door window?
- Privacy: the door window looks straight into your living area at the campground.
- Light: block early sun and campground lights at night.
- Heat: a covered window lets less summer heat in through the door.
Common questions
Are 12x21, 15x24 and 16x25 RV door windows different sizes?
Usually not. Most towable doors have about 12" × 21" glass, a 15" × 24" cutout in the door and a frame about 16" × 25" outside. Measure the glass and the frame so we know exactly which you have.
My door has the standard window but no Thin Shade Ready sticker. What should I order?
The snap-in EcoCell shade only fits prepped Lippert doors. Choose Custom Size and enter your glass and frame measurements.
Can you make a shade for an arched or rounded-top door window?
No. Custom shades are built for rectangular windows. Rounded corners are fine.
How big can a custom door shade be?
The builder covers glass up to 32" wide and 60" tall. If your window is larger, ask us before you order.
Can I return a custom shade?
Custom shades are built to your measurements and can't be returned, so please double-check your numbers. In-stock standard shades follow our normal return policy.
