Ducted vs. non-ducted compatibility

RTX 2000 is not the same kind of ducted/non-ducted rooftop RV A/C found on standard travel trailers and fifth wheels. It is an integrated 12V rooftop system typically used in vans and specialty builds.

  • Ducted setup: best when your RV already uses ceiling ducts and you want conditioned air distributed through the coach.
  • Non-ducted setup: best when you need the interior air box to deliver air directly from the ceiling assembly into the living space.
  • Key point: the rooftop unit may fit the roof opening, but the inside components still have to match your application.

Thermostat / ADB / return-air guidance

This is not a standard 115V rooftop unit with separate RV ceiling assemblies. It uses its own integrated 12V architecture and requires enough battery capacity, cable sizing, and roof-cutout compatibility for the RTX platform.

  • Do not assume your old ceiling assembly automatically crosses over just because the roof opening is the same.
  • When replacing an older rooftop unit, confirm the inside plenum, return-air grill, control board, and thermostat strategy before you buy.
