Custom Freshwater RV Tanks: Size, Fit, & Replacement Options

Asked by JohnAsked on August 26, 2025Answered by Elkhart RV Parts
Customer Question

Where is my order for the freshwater tank, and is it still waiting for production? The tank ordered is too tall for the space available (only 6" height clearance), and I need a tank that fits within 72" length, 45" width, and no more than 6" height, holding at least 70 gallons. Are there other manufacturers or custom options for this size? Also, do I have a credit toward a new tank since mine is delayed or discontinued?

Expert Answer

Your freshwater tank order is still in the production queue as it is custom-made, which can extend lead times. Unfortunately, the original tank you ordered has been discontinued by the manufacturer. However, there is a recommended replacement tank with similar specifications that can be expedited for delivery between October 10-16. This replacement tank measures 62"L x 34"W x 9.5"H with 75 gallons capacity. Given your strict 6" height clearance, this replacement may still be too tall. Currently, no standard tanks fit within 6" height while maintaining 70 gallons capacity and your specified length and width. You may consider custom fabrication options from specialty manufacturers to meet your dimensional requirements. Regarding your payment, you have a $375 credit toward purchasing a new freshwater tank. If you choose a different tank on our site or a custom option, we will adjust the price difference accordingly or process a full refund if preferred. Please contact us to discuss suitable alternatives or refund options to resolve your order promptly.
